Privacy Policy — Snel Nieuws

This Privacy Policy describes how the Snel Nieuws application for iOS and Android (“Snel Nieuws”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information about you.

1. Who we are

Snel Nieuws is operated by Emudoi. You can reach us at info@emudoi.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the app:

• Email address — when you create an account with email/password, sign in with Google, or (on iOS) sign in with Apple. Required to identify your account.
• Name — if your Apple or Google sign-in chooses to share it. Used only as a display name.
• Account identifier — a unique user ID assigned by Firebase Authentication. Used to associate your account with your data.
• Saved articles — bookmarks you create within the app. Stored on your device. Article identifiers may be associated with your account so your bookmarks survive reinstall.
• Notification preferences and push token — when you opt in to push notifications, we store the daily-update frequency you pick and the push token your device generates (APNs token on iOS, Firebase Cloud Messaging token on Android), together with a per-install device identifier. Used solely to deliver the news pushes you’ve subscribed to. Cleared from our servers when you turn notifications off, delete the app, or delete your account.

We do not collect: your contacts, your location, your photos, your health data, your purchases, or your browsing history outside the app.

3. How we use information

• To create and authenticate your account.
• To save and restore your bookmarked articles.
• To send password reset emails when you request them.
• To deliver push notifications at the frequency you’ve chosen, when you have opted in.
• To diagnose crashes and improve reliability of the app.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sharing with data brokers.

4. Third-party services

We use the following processors to provide the app:

• Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — handles sign-up, sign-in, and password resets. See Firebase Privacy.
• Cloud Firestore (Google LLC) — stores your account record so it can be retrieved across devices.
• Sign in with Apple (iOS only) — when you choose to sign in with Apple.
• Sign in with Google — when you choose to sign in with Google on either iOS or Android.
• Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivers push notifications to iOS devices. Used only when you opt in to notifications.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) (Google LLC) — delivers push notifications to Android devices. Used only when you opt in to notifications. See Firebase Privacy.
• Snel Nieuws API (operated by us at api.snel.emudoi.com) — delivers news content. The API does not log your account identifier against article requests.

5. News content

Articles displayed in the app are aggregated from third-party news publishers. We do not own that content and do not collect information about which articles you read. When you tap an article you may be sent to the publisher's website, which has its own privacy practices we do not control.

6. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account in the app (Menu → Delete Account), we permanently remove your authentication record, your stored profile, and any bookmarks held on our servers, typically within 30 days.

7. Your rights

You can:

• Access and update your email address through the app.
• Delete your account, and all associated data we hold, from inside the app via Menu → Delete Account.
• Contact us at info@emudoi.com to request a copy of your data, or to ask any privacy-related questions.

8. Children

Snel Nieuws is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Authentication credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never stored on our own servers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the most recent change was made. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
